From inside the fish Jonah prayed to the Lord his God. He said:
distress I called to the Lord, and he answered me. From the depths

drought and never fails to bear fruit.

meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted
by streams of water, which yields its fruit in
season and whose leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does prospers.

Baseball - Even though I do not always like to admit it, I am a Boston Red Sox fan, waiting patiently all my life for them to win the World Series. Then in 2004, an unexpected thing happened. The Sox took the World Series by soundly defeating the Cardinals four games to none in the best-of-seven series. World Series Championship was also repeated by Boston in 2007 and 2013.
Babe Ruth might have become the greatest player Boston would ever have, if not for what Red Sox fans could point to as the single worst event ever to occur in the team's history, in 1917.That year the team was purchased by one H. Harrison Frazee, a theatrical producer who loved baseball but loved Broadway more. He saw the Red Sox as a means of financing his theatrical operations, and began selling off all of his best players to Colonel Jacob Ruppert, owner of the New York Yankees, to raise cash for a number of Broadway ventures. Babe Ruth became victim to this practice in 1920, when Frazee sold him to Ruppert for $125,000.
Ruth led the Yankees to seven American League championships and four World Series titles. He led the league in home runs many times, and the 60 he hit in 1927 set a record for the 154-game season. (Roger Maris hit 61 home runs in a 162-game season in 1961.) Ruth's lifetime total of 714 home runs is second only to the 755 hit by Hank Aaron. With a .342 lifetime batting average for 22 seasons of play, many consider Babe Ruth the game's greatest player.
The Red Sox were devastated from the loss of Babe Ruth. They had won five of the first fifteen World Series, but would not even play in another for 28 years! Before 2004, they had not won a World Series since 1918.
Do you know that in a race all the runners run, but only
one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone
who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get
a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.
- 1 Corinthians 9:24 - 25
I have fought the good fight,
I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness,
which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that
day--and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
- 2 Timothy 4:7 - 8
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working
for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will
receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward.
It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
- Colossians 3:23 - 24
You may say to yourself,
My power and the strength of my hands have But remember the LORD your God,
produced this wealth for me.
for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth...
- Deuteronomy 8:17 - 18
